Bare Beauty

Models Own Bare Beauty

I was going through a bit of a neutral, nude phase so when the Models Own sale was on a little while back I picked up the shade 'Bare Beauty'. I don't really have any nude polishes and so I thought this would be nice to wear for during the week or whatever when I didn't want overly flashy nails.
I had Shellac nails for 2 weeks after I received my Models Own order so I only used it for the first time last week and to be honest I didn't like it! It was much more orange-y than it was 'bare'. I don't think it looks like that in it's bottle but when it was on the nails I really didn't like it and it chipped really easily! I don't tend to find that my Models Own polishes chip that easily but this one just wouldn't stay on.
So I am yet to find a nice neutral polish - if you own one tell me below!!

On another note I have picked the winner of my giveaway and will do a little post tomorrow to officially announce it... Although I have already told her as I was too excited!! I also did something quite exciting at the weekend which I will share with you soon. (N.B This was supposed to be published last night... so will get another one up tonight!)
Hope you are all having a nice week x

Haul

I had to pop into town yesterday to take some tops back that I haven't worn for work so I thought it'd be a good time to seriously start taking care of my skin. I've not really thought or read up on skincare but through blogging I have realised that no matter how much you spend on makeup and how much or little you wear if you don't have good skin it will never look it's best.
As I had a No7 voucher I thought I'd give them a go first of all.
I walked in, really not sure where to look or what to think and found they cater for three different skin tones; dry/very dry, normal/dry and normal/oily. I do feel I probably have combination skin as it can feel dry before moisturising but then feels oily too and I have recently been having major breakouts!! I asked the assistant for her advice and she was so lovely, explained all the different products they have on offer and said I should go for normal/oily and start with the cleanser and moisturiser. As it was 3 for 2 (as well has being able to still use the £5 off voucher) I also bought the face mask - which, she told me, also doubles up as an exfoliator.
(L-R No7 foaming cleanser, skin purifying face mask & day cram all for normal/oily skin)

So my new skincare regime will now consist of No7's foaming cleanser, followed by No7 beautiful skin day cream and then I will use the mask when I want a little extra help. Looking forward to letting you all know how it goes. The lady also told me that if I do have a problem then they will swap or give me a full refund! Lovely.

As I was in Boots I caved and bought the Essie nail polish in Mint Candy Apple. I have seen so many bloggers with this shade and I couldn't resist! It's gorgeous. Got home and gave myself a manicure straight away. I hope it lasts well.

I also picked up this ring from Dorothy Perkins. It looked quite unusual and i like the way it wraps around my finger.

Have you bought anything recently? Do you use any No7 skincare products? I was considering doing a video, but I'm not sure what to use - do you use your point & shoot camera to video or your laptop?

NOTD - Peach Melba

It seems I've gotten into the habit of painting my nails just before bed. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen but it's actually really good because once I'm in bed I don't have to do anything so my nails can dry easily. If I do them in the day I find I get distracted too quickly and my nails inevitably end up smudged!

I found an old makeup bag at my mum's on the weekend and bought back some products I'd forgot about or thought I'd give a second shot! One of them is this Barry M nail polish called Peach Melba. I think I bought it last summer and I can't believe I forgot about it! I love the colour so much and can't wait to wear it in the summer when I have a bit of a tan.

I really like Barry M's nail polishes over lots of other drugstore brands as they give a thick coverage and always have great colours at affordable prices.

Do you like this colour? What nail polish shades are you loving?

NOTD - sweet kisses

Today I am wearing 17 Cosmetic's Sweet Kisses that I got on this haul. Sorry for all the 17 posts, am getting through my new products slowly but surely!
I was actually after the Fairy Cake shade but the Boots I went into didn't have it and some of the nail polishes had different names to the website, totally got confused!

Although it's purple I really like that it's quite subtle and can be worn with loads of different outfits.

The polish is not very thick so two coats were definitely needed.

Do you like this shade? Have you got any other lasting fix colours?

Makeup haul - 17 Cosmetics

After the 17 Cosmetic's Twitter party I posted about some products I wanted to purchase. (See it here) As I've finished my dissertation (wahoo, go me!) I thought I'd treat myself to some new spring nail polishes. The weather was trying to be sunny, but unfortunately it actually ended up pouring down by 3pm and my skinny jeans, blazer and pumps combo got soaked!

A lovely blogger mentioned to me that if you pop your Advantage card into the machine you can get a voucher for a free 17 concealer. Luckily you can still do this until the 20th (go go go!) I also needed a new mascara and, as I already had 4 17 Cosmetics products in my basket, I thought I'd give one of theirs a go.

Off I trotted to the till with my goodies and the assistant told me to go pick up another product, as it was 3 for 2. Now, I did know this but I thought as the concealer was free it would cancel out the 3 for 2 offer. I was totally wrong and manged to pick myself up a free blusher too!

I felt like such a bargainista walking out of boots with three free new pieces of makeup!!

Here's a lil piccy of what I purchased.

I'll write a review of my freebie concealer as well as the mascara soon :)

Models Own Nail Polish

So after seeing Makeup Savvy's blog post on the Models Own nail polish, and always one for a bargain (even if I don't need it!!) I was straight on ASOS to purchase myself some new nail polish. FYI, I always say nail varnish but is it meant to be nail polish? I think it sounds nicer so I'll continue using it for now.
I have been looking for a good gold glittery nail polish since before Christmas so I quickly snapped up the Goldfinger shade and also chose Bubblegum as I liked the brightness. I sent them with supersaver delivery which was free (bargainista!) and was so surpirsed when they arrive only a few days later that I opened them and kind of forget about them for a few days!

Anyway, I treated myself to new colourful nails Saturday night but couldn't decide between the two so used both.

I tend to use Rimmel 60seconds, because I am very impatient and hate it when you take the time to paint your nails and then they smudge. I also use Barry M as they always have great colours. Frist impressions: WOW. I could visabily see the polish drying on my nails after doing the first hand, I also could have probably left it with just the one coat but I did two coats because my nails chip almost instantly.
The gold probably would have looked better with a basecoat as it is a bit sparse in places but happy with it after looking for one for a while!
The Bubblegum shade is quite fluro but it got me in the summer mood and will look amazing with a tan. Maybe I'll get fake tanning and paint them again :)
